Description
This volume takes the reader behind the scenes of dinosaur research in Texas. Discover, for example, a dinosaur leg bone as large as a man; the smallest dinosaur bone found in Texas; where to search for dinosaur fossils; the most dramatic fossil ever found in the state; and more. Doris Tischler’s watercolour drawings create a gallery of 23 native Texas dinosaurs. These portraits seek to provide an idea of the creatures’ shapes and sizes, ranging from barely 50 pounds to an astounding 50 tons. Black and white drawings and diagrams help explain the geology and outline the historical perspective of the age of dinosaurs. There are also maps which show what Texas was like in the dinosaur age. Several paleontologists, including vertebrate paleontologist Dr Wann Langston, Jr, from the University of Texas, provide commentaries on their areas of expertise.
