Famous Tales from Turkey: With Activities for the Primary Classroom

Most of us have heard of the Wooden Horse of Troy, Saint Nicholas, or King Midas and his golden touch. But do you know that they all come from what is modern day Turkey? Educator Barry Nicholson shares twelve tales from Turkey's long and rich history, designed to enliven your class or project work. Each section can be used on its own or as a starting point for further study. Importantly, there are three suggested activities at the end of each section, designed to link the story to practical activities for the classroom. The activities bring the tales to life and encourage children to engage with the story. Most of the tales have a geographical location, and for those wishing to visit the sites there is information on how to get there and what to see. How about a visit to the deserted city of Ani in eastern Turkey, or an excursion to the Museum of Underwater Archaeology in Bodrum? In this book there is a wealth of interesting and intriguing information. These are tales of magic; these are tales of mystery; these are tales of history; these are tales of romance. These are the Famous Tales From Turkey.
