The Adventures of a School Volunteer: Karl's Here!

Karl's Here! is a unique look at elementary school volunteering. The author's personal account of his volunteer experiences provides a look at the interaction between the volunteer, the teacher, and the students. Karl's volunteer roles are detailed as he becomes part of the classroom teaching team. He describes volunteer-led "Special and Fun Projects" with the students that are woven into the class curriculum by the teacher. Karl argues that adults, particularly senior citizens, can make a significant impact in the classroom, have fun, and receive a host of unexpected personal rewards.
