The Harper family – Ansel, Alice, and their small son, Jody – lived in Waterville Village that was built to house the families of those who worked at the power plant. Ansel Harper worked at the Walters Hydroelectric Plant located at Waterville, N.C., in the Great Smoky Mountains. Waterville in 1950 was a peaceful, idyllic, green paradise. But this beautiful paradise hid an evil and cruel being named Willis Broom.
