Description
This report identifies the role the refuge would play in support of the National Wildlife Refuge System and to provide guidance in refuge management activities. The plan – provides a clear statement of direction for the future management of the refuge; – ensures that management of the refuge is in keeping with the purposes for which the refuge was established; – provides refuge neighbors, visitors, and government officials with an understanding of the Service’s management actions on and in partnerships around the refuge; – ensures that the Service’s management actions, including land protection and recreation/education programs, are consistent with the mandates of the National Wildlife Refuge System, including the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act of 1997; – ensures that the management of the refuge is consistent with federal, state, and county plans; and – provides a basis for the refuge’s operational, maintenance, and capital improvement needs.
