In 2004, Colonial National Historical Park (Colonial NHP) initiated a demonstration shuttle service to link key visitor attractions in the area, including Colonial Williamsburg, Historic Jamestown, and Yorktown. Funding for the shuttle service, however, expires in 2010. In support of the National Park Service (NPS), the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (Volpe Center) is conducting a multiyear operations evaluation of the shuttle service and is developing a business plan that provides recommendations for continued operations beyond 2010. As part of this evaluation effort, the NPS Alternative Transportation in Parks and Public Lands Program (ATPPL) has funded the Volpe Center to conduct a survey of shuttle users at Colonial NHP. The survey provides the opportunity to obtain information on how visitors are using the shuttle and their level of satisfaction with different aspects of the service.
