Description
The Federal Clean Water Amendments of 1977 require biennial reports from states on the chemical quality of surface water and groundwater within their boundaries. In 2002, the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation developed a program to evaluate groundwater quality throughout the major river basins in New York on a rotating basis.
