We have lost more than 70% of wildlife in the last fifty years; with the current rate of deforestation, in less than a decade the Amazon will become a net emitter of greenhouse gases; rising sea levels threaten entire cities;Frequent natural disasters resulting from extreme weather events indiscriminately annihilate lives. Latin America and the Caribbean play a predominant role in mitigating this crisis, as they have the highest concentration of biodiversity on the planet, the main sources of fresh water, the Amazon biome, and an unquantifiable wealth of coral reefs, among others. Aware of this reality, Ivn Duque proposes in these pages a roadmap for the countries of the region – with realistic, bankable, replicable, scalable and sustainable strategies – to join forces that allow solutions in the short, medium and long term. The stage of speeches and promises is over. Concrete actions are needed to save the planet and must be implemented now. Hemos perdido ms del 70 % de la vida silvestre en los ltimos cincuenta aos; con la tasa de deforestacin actual, en menos de una dcada la Amazona se convertir en un emisor neto de gases efecto invernadero; el aumento en los niveles del mar amenaza ciudades enteras; los frecuentes desastres naturales producto de los eventos climticos extremos aniquilan vidas de manera indiscriminada. Amrica Latina y el Caribe tienen un rol predominante en la mitigacin de esta crisis, al poseer la mayor concentracin de biodiversidad de todo el planeta, las principales fuentes de agua fresca, el bioma amaznico y una riqueza incuantificable de arrecifes coralinos, entre otros. Consciente de esta realidad, Ivn Duque plantea en estas pginas una hoja de ruta para los pases de la regin –con estrategias realistas, financiables, replicables, escalables y sostenibles–, para aunar esfuerzos que permitan soluciones a corto, mediano y largo plazo. La etapa de los discursos y las promesas ha terminado. Para salvar al planeta se necesitan acciones concretas y hay que implementarlas ahora.
