The cloud forest on the tiny island of Saba in the Northeastern Caribbean is unique in the region, but little scientific research has been conducted. The author, a biologist and conservationist who has resided on the island since 1986, has compiled available information on the cloud forest and supplemented this with his own observations. In particular he describes the impact of major hurricanes and how the forest evolved following these hurricanes.
