The contributors to this book are scholars drawn from prominent research laboratories and universities around the world. The first six chapters of the book are devoted to theory and design, each having a unique focus and perspective. The remaining seven chapters use the foundation built in the first part to address specific applications. Some of these application areas are quite mature, while others are just emerging.
