The Vetiver System relies on a unique tropical plant, Vetiver grass – “Chrysopogon zizanioides,” that is proven and used in some 100 countries for soil and water conservation, slope stabilization, land rehabilitation, pollution control, water quality improvement, disaster mitigation and many other environmental applications that can mitigate the impact of global warming and climate change. It has future potential for atmospheric carbon sequestration (carbon exchange credits) and as bio-fuel for power generation and cellulosic ethanol.
