The western prairie fringed orchid monitoring protocol guides monitoring of this threatened plant on Pipestone National Monument. The monitoring protocol is designed to achieve two objectives: to track temporal and spatial changes in the abundance and vigor (height, flowering, and fruit production) of flowering orchids at Pipestone National Monument in relation to fire, soil moisture, and precipitation and to track changes in orchid habitat structure in relation to fire and precipitation
